IOP Publishing is the publishing arm of the Institute of Physics. The company headquarters is located in Bristol, with several regional offices around the world.
The Challenge
IOP Publishing had recently implemented an ERP system. It contacted CBO for help with resolving some issues and to determine a path for maximising the business benefits of its efforts. The company has complex tax requirements – it deals with a large number of organisations around the world, including many charities or educational establishments that each bring their own demands in terms of VAT and other tax-related issues.
The Solution
We deployed a technical expert to assist with the issue resolution and system automation requirements and followed up with a finance expert to help optimise IOP Publishing’s tax requirements.
IOP Publishing recognised that considerable benefits could be achieved by fully reviewing business process, as the initial ERP implementation had been marred by product quality issues which diverted attention. We are now working in partnership with the organisation to gradually improve process optimisation and system alignment.
